Adams was the most prominent member of this black community and managed to amass a considerable fortune. The houses are transitional between the Greek Revival and Italianate styles. 300 has been stripped of its porch and window sash, but 302 is well-preserved. Original Note (From Book): The 300 Block of West Leigh Street - The north side of the street has survived as residences, while the southern side has disappeared completely.
