Area of Jackson Ward Block: 600 Block North First Street Area of Jackson Ward Full Street: North First Street Area of Jackson Ward Main Street: First Street GIS Data Latitude: 37.547764 GIS Data Longitude: -77.438189 Map URL: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=37.547764,.+-77.438189+(602%20North%20First%20Street,%20Richmond,%20VA)&iwloc=A&hl=en Original Description (From Book): This small, one-level brick Italianate cottage is painted red with painted mortar lines to simulate brick. This was a traditional way to paint brick and this cottage is one of the few examples of this technique in Richmond. The cottage has a good cornice and its original shutters are in place. Original Note (From Book): 600 Block of North First Street - This is one of the most consistent blocks in Jackson Ward. Built in the last decades of the nineteenth century, this block contains smaller homes than on Leigh or Clay Streets. These are more easily used by modern families than the larger houses on other blocks. Section of Jackson Ward TOC: The Numbered Cross Streets |
