Scale has a large wooden box for the base, where the mechanisms for the scale are contained, and a thick marble top hiding the inner workings. The scale has two places for trays, each with four equal sized arms radiating from a central point attached to the shaft of the machinery. The two scale arms each hold a round, slighly concave tin tray. Body of scale has a brass plate with the manufacturer's name, and a small window with two arrows to show when the two arms have balanced out. There is also a sticker affixed certifying the scale by the North Carolina Division of Weights and Measures for the year 1955. | |
