Postcard Text: City Hall, Chester, Pa. This building was erected in 1724. It was the Court House of Chester County 1724-1786. Court House of Delaware County 1789-1851. Hall of Chester Borough 1851-1866. Hall of Chester City since 1866. In 1739, England declared war against Spain and soldiers were here enlisted, for an expedition to Cuba. Here Anthony Wayne rallied and drilled his troops 1776. In 1824 Lafayette as a guest of the nation was entertained in this building. Postmark Date: 1916 Publishing Note: C.T. Photochrom. |
